The Weather is Bringing Me Down!

All this rain is preying on my emotions. It's so depressing! I have so many plans to get things done around the house but it's dark and cold outside and all I want to do is grab a blanket, snuggle up on the couch and take a nap. Is that why the call it a Tropical Depression? :)

Things I Can't Live Without

As I was driving to my mother's new house across the state for the first time in the pouring tropical rains of Fay, two kids in tow and a gigantic Starbucks double shot espresso in my system; I realized there were certain things in life that I am so greatful for that just make life so much easier. Having my husband gone for a year, raising two kids by myself and left to deal with everything from finances, to oil changes, to feeding the dogs made me realize some things are priceless. So, what things can I not live without not can I ever believe that I lived without them previously?

#1 Sirius satellite radio- For just a few bucks a month, you can have the world at your fingertips in your car. I no longer have to listen to the horrible local stations that play the same 5 songs every hour. I can find out about the weather, listen to news, learn the latest fashion trends, calm my screaming children, and of course listen to my favorite genres of music without commercial interuption. It's amazing!

#2 Verizon Wireless- I never even realized how horrible my previous cell phone company was until I switched. Usually from the drive to my moms place I have at least an hour where there is no signal. Not with Verizon. Not only do I have reception the whole drive I also have a navigation system, email, videos (yes, I can watch TV on my phone), and numerous other applications to download . VCast is so sweet when you have nothing to do (just don't do it while you're driving). They have a suitable kids channel with all of the popular shoes. My son loves it! The Navigation program is so easy to use. Just type in the address, allow the GPS system to track your location and the phone speaks to you telling you which turns to make, how many more miles you have left, and the estimated travel time. Being able to snap pictures and videos of my kids and send them via email to my husband has been great. Took me a while to figure it out but now I do it several times a day. It's really been a life saver.

#3 The ipod Touch- Sure, it comes with a pretty hefty price tag and it took my husband and I hours of contemplating on whether or not it was worth the money. Only after a few days of having one we realized that it was the best choice we could have made. I can plan my day with a little tap. I can keep tabs on my grocery list. I can compare prices of items from different stores so that I know I'm getting the best deal. I can play games, watch movies, TV, listen to HOURS upon HOURS of music and podcasts. I can pay bills, email, check my myspace and facebook, make to do lists, and so much more. How did I ever live without this thing!? I'm actually posting this now while taking a poo...just kidding. However, I do not think it would be worth it if we didn't have wireless internet.

#4 My Family- I wouldn't want to exist if they weren't here with me. I love waking up every morning to "Mommy, mommy, mommy" (although you may hear me say otherwise while I'm on the phone). I love the little squeals of joy my daughter makes while discovering that she can make sounds. I love my mom who is always there for me no matter what it costs her. And most of all, I love my husband. His will and strength amazes me everyday. I could not do his job. Not many can. But without him, what would our life be like? He's only been gone for a few weeks now but already I miss him so much. I took for granted all the things he did while he was here. I never realized what I had until it was gone (gahhh, I hate that saying but it's true). I love him and miss him.

So, this about wraps up my first post. Yay! I actually finished something. Anyone else find it uncomfortable to open up on the internet for the whole world to see?
